Why attach yourself to Jack LaLanne and Stay Fit Seniors? Why does one attach oneself to anything bigger than oneself; to become bigger! When I started the concept in 2004 I wanted to attach my practice and chiropractic to the growing fitness trend and take my patients to the very best level of health. This trend was and has become bigger than me and bigger than chiropractic. I became part of something bigger but guess what happened? Dr Lauro wanted to open up one as well and together we became bigger than we were. Once we did that is when things started to really happen. We were separate offices with our own identities but connected through this fitness trend and the Stay Fit Seniors Program. The perception in the communities was tremendous. We realized we had to bring this to the profession and that is when Dr Lauro reminded me of something. He said you always say," Attach yourself to something bigger than you are and you become bigger" so we need to attach Stay Fit Seniors to something or someone bigger than we are.
He was right and we attached ourselves to the "God Father of Fitness" himself Jack LaLanne,
who is a chiropractor. You see its all about perception. Five years from now, ten years from now, when we have hundreds of locations around the country and in most chiropractic colleges we will all be part of something bigger but remain separate expressions of chiropractic. That's the power of branding. We all remain individual practices but connected to a quality turn key system with top shelf equipment and procedures, marketing and branding with Jack LaLanne working for us and with us to spread chiropractic. If you like go to the following link http://www.intelligentgraphix.com/Stay_fit/Ad_Materials/08180_2pg_ad_Russo.pdf
and see an example of branding. Imagine your office name and number on there instead of mine. For fun dial the 866 number and listen to Jack LaLanne talk about Stay Fit Seniors to patients. That 866 number answers 24/7 with a live operator just in case your office is closed.

The Senior Advantage by Anthony Lauro D.C.
If you desire to specialize, consider the 60-plus age group.
The Senior Advantage is catering to the needs of the 60-plus crowd which is appealing for a number of reasons:
• More care needed. This group needs chiropractic care more than any other group. Spines of individuals older than age 60 who have never experienced regular chiropractic care have a degree of degeneration and loss of normal spinal mechanics that necessitate chiropractic care.
Most people in this group also take medication(s) for a variety of health problems. The need to take medication indicates poor health, and anyone who is in poor health can benefit from chiropractic care.
• Large demographic. This group also has large numbers. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, individuals age 60 and older comprise more than 16 percent of the total population.
Over the next 15 years, approximately 40 million baby boomers will become senior citizens and they will be able to afford chiropractic care.
• Great amount of disposable income. Baby boomers control more than 70 percent of all disposable income, with $2 trillion in spending power and more than $1 trillion of that spent on goods and services.
• Compliant. This group is more likely to follow the recommendations of their doctors and follow through with care plans. They also prefer morning or early afternoon appointments, when most chiropractic offices are not busy.
PROBLEM: INSUFFICIENT EXERCISE
Research is showing that everything from heart disease to Alzheimer’s can be helped through exercise. The National Institutes of Health, many gerontologists, and researchers have found exercise to be the closest thing to an anti-aging pill that exists. People who are physically fit measure 10 to 20 years younger biologically than their chronological age.
Seniors are responding to this information. The International Health, Racquet and Sports Club Association (IHRSCA) reports the willingness of seniors to exercise has increased 350 percent during the past 20 years.
Although seniors are willing to exercise, getting fit is not easy for them to accomplish because the fitness industry has left out seniors. Seniors prefer to exercise alone or with people their own age.
A SOLUTION FIT FOR SENIORS
A solution fit for seniors (and practices) is circuit training to all patients age 60 or older who are receiving regular chiropractic care. This is a win-win situation: Seniors win because they get regular chiro-practic care and exercise; you win because you gain lifetime patients and an excellent source of referrals.

Every seven seconds someone turns 60 years of age!
Every seven seconds someone turns 60 years of age! That means every seven seconds there is someone else to serve and bring to chiropractic through the Stay Fit Seniors Program of chiropractic care and exercise in 2009. What a tremendous opportunity and generation of people to serve. We can lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol and improve bone density while educating people about subluxation and then removing them."There's no better marriage than chiropractic and exercise." Patients come back regularly, reporting an increase in daily activities - gardening, housework, golf and different hobbies. They have more energy, move easier and feel less pain. The combination of chiropractic adjustments and exercise has been great for them. Patients come in initially for the exercise, but they understand that chiropractic is part of the program. Once they're in our office, they learn about chiropractic, receive a thorough examination and understand how it'll benefit their health by complementing their exercise regimen. They have warmed right up to it and are becoming great chiropractic patients. In fact, a lot of them say, "I can't believe I didn't find you 20 years ago." We just keep telling them there's no time like the present. One of the single biggest benefits of Stay Fit Seniors is that we are introducing so many new patients to our profession.
